St. Regis San Francisco Bar

With the amount of time that I spend sitting at hotel bars, this one in the St. Regis Hotel in San Francisco is one of my favorites.  The bar chairs lined up at the bar, the diagonal lines and crisp edges of the bar, and the grid pattern of the windows all combined to create a contemporary and sophisticated vibe.

Fort Zachary Taylor Cannon Port

The 10 inch cannons use at Fort Zachary Taylor had a range of up to 3 miles.  The Fort continued to be an active military installation through World War II as a radar station.

Lafayette Cemetery Crypts

I retake this same picture each time I visit the Lafayette Cemetery in New Orleans. Each time the condition of the cemetery is a little bit worse, and also a little bit more interesting.

Society for the Relief of Destitute Orphan Boys

I'm not sure which is more sad, being an orphan or dying as a boy and being buried in a mass unnamed crypt.

This crypt was meant for someone else to be buried there as well, but either they weren't, or they didn't have their name added.

This crypt is slowly being taken back by the surrounding foliage.  Notice how the layers multiple layers and prior repairs add to the texture.

I am a big fan of abstract art and this fossilized plant seems to still be reaching for the light too.
